The Wood Lab
I am a PhD student in the Wood Lab, where we explore the world of marine parasite ecology. I work closely with my labmates on a number of collaborative projects, including our
Parasites of the Past  and Time Capsule projects. To learn more about the work that we do in the Wood lab, visit the Projects page or head over to the Wood Lab website. Some of the people I work closely with in the Lab are linked below!
Oceans Initiative
I am a Graduate Fellow of Marine Parasite Ecology with Oceans Initiative, a nonprofit based in the Pacific Northwest and led by Drs Erin Ashe and Rob Williams that works on the border of science and management to conserve at-risk species on a local and global scale. My work falls under the umbrella of one of Oceans Initiative's main program areas, Marine Mammal Health, where it is joined by groundbreaking studies on marine mammal disease in the Salish Sea and British Columbia. Oceans Initiative also prides itself in supporting young researchers, especially young women in marine mammal science like myself. I have worked closely with co-founder Dr. Erin Ashe on the Women in Marine Mammal Science Initiative.

Sound Science Research Collective
Sound Science is a nonprofit I co-founded with colleagues Dr. Michelle Fournet, Dr. Samara Haver, and Dr. Leanna Matthews. The Sound Science Research Collective is a nonprofit working to conduct impactful ecological research while promoting inclusion and diversity in the marine mammal science field. I have had the pleasure of working with the Sound Science Research Collective on several humpback whale bioacoustic projects in Southeast Alaska. Our research is featured in the upcoming Apple TV original film, Fathom.

Previous affiliations

Biotelemetry and Behavioral Ecology (Friedlaender) Lab
The Friedlaender Lab, now housed at the University of California, Santa Cruz, conducts biotelemetry studies aimed at answering broad questions about the behavioral ecology of cetaceans. Their work takes them from the southern Gulf of Maine all the way to the Antarctic Peninsula. I completed my masters degree in the Friedlaender lab at Oregon State University in 2016.
Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary
My master's research at Oregon State University was conducted using data collected by the long-standing Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary's humpback whale research program. They have collected behavioral and ecological data from humpback whales in Southern Gulf of Maine for over a decade, specializing in the use of bio-telemetry technology.
